Anxiety and depression

Anxiety and depression are mental health concerns that affect people of all ages and backgrounds. In any one year, it is estimated three million Australians experience depression and anxiety. Both disorders have mental and physical symptoms. These common mental health illnesses are treatable, with proper intervention, including:

  • Evidence-based therapy, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Other treatments are available to support management and recovery

Major life events

If you, or a loved one, has suffered from a major (or minor) life event and are having trouble adjusting, professional intervention can help you contain the stress and cope with change. Major, and sometimes negative life events, don’t discriminate. Overwhelming evidence suggests the best outcomes occur from developing strategies to cope better, using:

  • Mindfulness-based techniques
  • Evidence-based therapies, as noted above
  • Sessions tailored to individual needs

Trauma interventions

The impact of traumatic events can transcend all aspects of life. Experiencing a traumatic event can cause physical, emotional, or psychological harm. For example, it may make it hard to concentrate at work, communicate with loved ones, and manage anger. Unresolved trauma can manifest itself in many ways. Trauma intervention can include:

  • Evidence-based treatments such Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Schema Therapy

Relationship counselling

Navigating our closest, most intimate relationships can be difficult at times. Conflict, communication and issues with co-habitation may trigger an emotional response. Relationship counselling can assist these challenges by helping to re-establish connection and instil a sense of wellness and harmony. Relationship counselling draws on evidence-based tools, including:

  • The Gottman Method of Relationship Therapy
  • Emotional Focused Couples Therapy
  • Collaborative Couples Therapy

Executive coaching

Professional and personal wellbeing relies on having career clarity and life direction. Executive coaching provides an impartial perspective on performance, leadership and reaching potential. As an International Coach Federation (ICF)-endorsed executive coach, Wendy draws on evidence-based methodologies to develop accountable action plans that tap into your strengths to achieve specified goals.

Stress management

Some stress is necessary for optimal performance. When stress is prolonged and interferes with how everyday experiences are perceived, it may be problematic to your health and wellbeing. Learning how to handle stress will have a positive impact on wellbeing – both physically and mentally. There are proven stress-management techniques that can help you to reset.

Managing chronic illness

One in every two Australians have at least one prominent chronic condition. Living with chronic illness can place significant demands on you and your loved ones. If you, or someone close to you, is struggling to manage the additional challenges associated with having a chronic condition, you may benefit from professional intervention and support.
