Fees and Rebates

Fees and rebates at Professional Wellbeing are consistent with current government, Medicare and Australian Psychological Society guidelines. As you will appreciate, fees vary based on a few factors. Please find below an outline of indicative fees.

Standard session and fee

A standard consultation lasts for 50 minutes and the standard fee is $250 per session. The Initial Consultation is typically up to 90 minutes and the fee for the initial session is $350. The fee for other services, for example the provision of extended trauma interventions, will be discussed and confirmed prior to the provision of these services.

Medicare rebates

For clients referred by a GP, under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Program, you may be eligible to claim a rebate of $137.05 (current at 1 January 2024) for a 50-minute consultation, up to a maximum of 10 sessions per calendar year. Medicare rebates may also apply, if you are referred by another third-party source.

Contact the practice, for clarification on your eligibility.

Health fund rebates

Professional Wellbeing is a registered provider with the major health funds that cover clinical psychology services. HICAPS facilities are available at the practice. Please contact your health fund to determine whether you’re covered. Rebates through Medicare don’t apply, if you make a claim through your health fund. Clinical psychology services are covered by:

medibank
gu health

Cancellation policy

If, for some reason, you need to cancel or postpone an appointment, please give at least 48 hours’ notice, out of courtesy. Cancellation fees apply, as follows:

  • Less than 24 hours’ notice (cancel on the day of appointment) incurs a full fee cost
  • Less than 48 hours’ notice, 50% of full fee
  • 48 hours’ notice or more – no fee

The fee will be added to your bill at the next appointment or charged to your credit card. Medicare and health insurance rebates are not applicable to cancellation fees.

Payment options and terms

Fees are payable by cash, credit or debit card with EFTPOS. HICAPS facilities are available in the practice, as noted previously. If you have been referred, under the Medicare Better Access to Mental Health Scheme, full fees are to be paid upfront. Following payment, the refund will be rebated into your nominated cheque or savings account.

Fees are payable after each session.
